Embracing life at 82 with taekwondo and joy!
Salme Nummela, an 82-year-old from Ylöjärvi, Finland, who achieved a black belt in taekwondo at the age of 75, has become a role model worldwide after interviews with Yle and the BBC.
She encourages others to exercise, and she practices taekwondo three times a week and leads a group of older adults. Nummela believes taekwondo has made her body stronger and improved her memory.
She is currently practicing for her second-degree black belt and also enjoys solo singing. Nummela hopes to try skydiving and believes her joy of life comes from her mother.
She always tries to find something good in things.
